Hair update…

Hair update…

The new beginning..

These last two years were full of surprise for my hair: hair loss, breakage and more. In 5 years on returning to natural, I had a strong capillary growth at the beginning, but with the breakage the length of my hair did not moved.

With college and the time it take to take care of my hair, I began taking care there less. And added to it, my hair became  more and more fine. It is my horrible experience that I had at the hair salon about which I had spoken to you here who gave me a ” wake-up call “. It was time for me to really take care of my hair more seriously.20151026_145401

My hair in october, after 5 month of deep treatment

In the first place, I began by identifying the elements which had a negative impact on my hair, and those on the contrary, who are beneficial them. Then, I sorted out all the hair care products which I possess to keep that the necessity. From there, I began setting up a good capillary regimen which would really meet the needs of my hair.20150801_182032Hair straightened with GHD flat iron + humidity

This summer, I focused on the health of my hair. I thus emphasized on home made proteine and moisturizing deep conditioner . I minimized also the manipulation by making protective hairstyles for at least 4 months. However, some of the hairstyles which were suppose  to protect my hair damaged them, what allowed me to understand  that our hair are very different depending on people and do not take the same tensions.

After 5 years, I am always discovering my hair. I will tell you more very soon. In the meantime, you will find me on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

DIY: Protein treatment with indian powders

DIY: Protein treatment with indian powders

100% natural…

Today, I am going to share with you a protein mask recipe  which I make for approximately 1 and a half year. After a hairstyle, when I have the impression that my hair need to be treated, I use this home made mask  with Indian powder in order to  strengthening my hair.

We often hear about these famous Indian powders for several years. The most known are:

  • Brahmi
  • Amla
  • Bhringaraj
  • Shikakai
  • Neem
  • Kapoor Kachli

However, there are other Indian powders about which we do not speak. Those are very beneficial for our hair and also for the skin. We can quote for example:

  • Manjistha
It is known for its active anti-ageing product but not only. It is a reddish and very fine powder which has soothing, astringent, purifying, unifying properties and anti-ageing  by activating the microcirculation. Which could limit black dots, wrinkles, spots, buttons and  discoloration, it is very beneficial for sensitive, mature skins and burns.
  • Sidr
Cousin of the Shikakai, it has the advantage to wash colored hair by fixing the color while fighting against dandruff and itches of the scalp. It can be use on the skin thanks to her cleaning and astringent properties , in the form of dough or soak it oil.
  • Ashwagandha
Antioxidant, it helps to fight against the ageing of the skin. Regenerating, it participates in the tissular cure of the hurt skins.

At the moment, here is the recipe(takings). You will need :

– 1 spoon of vegetal keratin

– 2 spoon of Brahmi

– 2 spoon of Amla

– 2 spoon of Neem

– 2 spoon of Bhringaraj

– 2 spoon of honey

– 1 spoon of castor oil, jojoba, avocado

– An egg

– Hot water (according to the consistency you want)

Mix all ingredients and let the mixture rest one moment, then you can appli it on freshly washed hair.

You can let it set for one or  two hours according to your taste. Personally, I let it set all night long. My hair is very soft, not dry and look very healthy! I love it !!

Bad hair salon experience …..

Bad hair salon experience …..

Never again….

Hello! Yes I know, I had promised an article a week. Unfortunately, with the studies it was very complicated. However, I have many things to  share with you all. As the title mentions it, I unfortunately had a very bad experience in a hairdressing salon in Quebec city.

Everything began in January when I wanted to install my lace wig in order to have a little break with my hair. I normaly take care of that myself usually, but this time I wanted be spoiled a bit. I thus began to look for a hairdressing salon in Quebec. I was able to find a Senegalese hairdressing salon and I quickly booked an appointment. Before going there, I took time to stretch my hair to facilitate the task for the hairdresser and also reassure me because usually I disentangle my hair myself.

I was there on time, but I had to wait for one of the stylists. After almost one hour of  it’s was my turn. She begins to braid me and I notice tufts of hair on the ground. I do not know why but I just let her do her thing . At the end I was horrified, she caused me enormous breakage. I hold on (why didn’t I say something ?). At the end, the owner comes to install my lace wig. However she manages to put some glue on hair the wig and she took a tweezer to remove the glue… Now my wig is very damage.

The results :

  • A large part of hair removed from the lace wig
  • An important breakage of my hair
  • And I found out at the end that I was braided by a student who comes there from time to time to help
  • I was pissed

I was disgusted, I would have had to make it myself as usual. But it is not finished, I waited a little before removing my braids so that my scalp can be less stress  to avoid  additional breakage. I revomed my braids and that’s came my head:

IMG-1423873685264-V

All that came out of my head, it was in a point where I wanted to do a  second big chop. I  calmed down and I had to cut  2 inches  to avoid more damage. Followed by a protein and moisturizing treatment. In conclusion, when you go to a hair salon, if you have a something to say, just say it do not  hesitate to express yourself, because it is your head after all. For now, i am in a heathly hair regimen in order to restore my hair.

Stay tuned for more

Flaxseed gel

Flaxseed gel

All natural…

Today I am going to share with you my homemade styling gel with flaxseed. Practical and economic, it is better than the other available products in the market.

flaxseed

This gel leaves no residue on the hair and do not makes them stiff, your hair will be soft and shiny, with a flexible holding. This gel is soluble, it rinses itself in the water and the bit extra: it feeds your hair.

To realize this gel, you will need these :

  • 1 cup Flaxseed
  • 2 or 3 cup water
  • coconut oil
  • argan oil
  • vitamin E
  • essential oil of you choice

This process is very simple. You have to bring to a boil flaxseeds. When a foam will begin to appear, you will decrease the fire, mixe it and pay attention on the consistency of the mixture.

When you obtain the consistency that you wish, remove it of the fire, but pay attention on the gel because is going to thicken.

As quickly as possible, you can pass the mixture through a strainer or with the help of a not used tights, as shown on the video below, to separate the seeds from the gel. Then you can add in your oils, the vitamin E and essential oils.

Here is an explanatory video of the process by Naptural85:

My summer hair regimen

My summer hair regimen

Sunny time…

The summer is for its peak, with holiday departures and the sun generosity this year. For my part I am on holidays since in the middle of May, hey yes!

During the summer our hair tend to grow more quickly. Actually, with the absence of low temperatures and fresh wind which accompanies it, the quantity of breakage decreases. Bye Bye heavy product and hello to the light capillary milk and oils adapted to the heat.

I use coconut and jojoba oil in my regimen a lot. Coconut oil is perfect for hair and also for skin. I would speak to you about my Skin regimen a little later.

I wash my hair twice a month. During the wash day, I apply a deep conditioner then a protein treatment two weeks later.Do not forget that after a proteinate care, it is important to follow by a moisturizer one to restore the balance. 1901957_10203622362020084_286490187_n Between the washes, I wore protective hairstyle as the Flat twist Updo about which I spoke to you here. I also use glueless laces wig, which is more practical than those we glue on. Indeed, it facilitates us to take care of our hair. I spend the day with it and in the evening I remove it to realize a capillary massage, and hydrate my hair. And finally, sleep on a silk or satin pillow.

My Flat twist updo

My Flat twist updo

The first one…

I know it has been a long time since I posted an article. I did not  forget believe me.

It makes some time that I wanted to realize a Flat twist updo. I looked many  video on YouTube and read quite a lot of articles.

One day, I tried to realize this hairstyle. I was inspired by My Natural Sistas’s video:

This hairstyle is just magnificent. I  had to adapt it, because my hair is very fine and of course I would be able to have exactly the sane result compared to this video.

I divided my hair into 4 parts and I began first of all with an hot oil treatment with as ingredients coconut oil, castor oil and jojoba oil. I apply the mixture to my hair and I left it on approximately between 1 or at 1:30 hour, then I rinse it.

After the hot oil treatment, I apply my shampoo. I used the Raw Shea Butter moisture  retention shampoo from Shea Moisture, while massaging the scalp.

I ended with the Keratin 2 min by Aphogee, I am in love with this product. It makes my hair very soft and flexible, with a beautiful smell. I roll up my hair in a plastic bag and  let the products on for 10 min.

I rinse my hair with warm water, to close the cuticles, because during the time that my hair was in a plastic bag, the heat opens cuticles so that the active agents penetrate into the hair. Then I apply some coconut oil, and I seal with my home-made whipped hair butter, witch I talked here.

With a clean and well hydrated hair, I can begin the hairstyle. I divided my hair into 5 parts. I keep a large part the part for the twists, then I divide the left, the right and the back in 2 parts each. From there I begin to flat twist.

Here is the result :

IMG_20140506_202310

What do you think about it?

I love this hairstyle ! For a first try, it is not so bad. All the family loved it too, which is a bit extra.

Well, i hope that you enjoyed this post !

See you soon!!
